We all desire a sense of security in our lives. We all want to know that by the end of the month, we will have earned a certain amount of money and will be able to live a stable life even if we are not constantly promoted. However, not everyone has a steady job that pays well every day. They must discover these solutions daily, with no holidays or paid leaves.
It’s priceless how hard people work to see happiness in the world. Every day, we forget how much valuable material we use and waste, which is a dream for many. Here’s a story of a lady named Sukhiben Bhanabhai Rathod, who belongs to a daily wage working family.
This story will teach you that life is not the product of fate and situations sometimes it is all about how much effort you put to earn the life you want and your perception of the circumstances.
Her personality
She is a well-mannered and well-dressed woman who likes to wear brightly coloured sarees like yellow and red drapes contrasting with black blouses. Her hair is also basically black at this age, tied neatly in a bun. Apart from a few metal bracelets; she wears no accessories such as necklaces or earrings. Her skin was smooth and shiny, with no scars, marks, or rough patches, despite her age at which girls around the world chose to be pampered, having worked as a midwife since childhood. Her face is wrinkled, her complexion is dull, her figure is slim, her eyes are slightly cross, and she looks sophisticated. After working hard for many years, she was physically exhausted and suffered from high blood pressure, osteoporosis of the legs and feet, and other illnesses. As she grew older, she began to forget some of her memories and had difficulty recalling events from her childhood.
Her marriage and family
A good life partner can make your life better just by being the part of it. The way she was describing her bond with her husband whom she lost just a few months ago makes it clear how blessed she was as his wife. His husband Bhanabhai loves and respects her and provided good care of her and her children. He was such a calm and decent man. He worked so hard for his family intending to provide basic education and food. They together managed expenses so well even with low wages that sometimes they enjoyed outings and even saved for a better future.
She has three children, two sons, and one daughter. The elder son has died due to some unknown cause. She now stays with her only younger son Mukesh who is alive in his family. She is a loving grandmother to Sagar and Kanak. She entertains her grandkids by playing games with them and sometimes even cooking their favourite dishes for them. She feels proud that her grand kids are acquiring proper education and she thinks her and her husband’s hard work paid off as her son is doing well to sustain his family.
Mukesh and his wife usually complete all of the household work before heading to work, and then do the remaining chores when they get home, such as dishwashing, cooking, etc. But, Sukhiben being compassionate towards her family tries to do all the work she could before they return and look after the kids staying at home so that her son and his wife could work without worrying about their kids.
How compassionate she is?
She was very active and energetic since childhood, and even at this age when her body has gone a little weak, she tries her best to help her daughter-in-law in managing household chores. As she was also a working woman in her younger days, she empathize; with daughter-in-law and valued her hard work to support a better future. She understands her family’s situation and gives her best for her children. Sukhiben pays her medical expenses through the social welfare fund because she knows that her son’s daily earnings are very limited and he cannot take care of everyone on his own.
Lesson
Sukhiben is a woman with vision and a high spirit who was working even before the marriage. She was a daily wager and understands all the struggles of being a daily wager. Although she lived a good life with her family and husband, she feels upset about not being able to join the school as it puts burden on her parents. She always wishes for her kids to receive an education and feels happy that her kids and grandkids are fortunate enough to get the education.
She encouraged today’s generation to be self-reliant and hard-working as they can improve their lifestyle just by working for it. She believes in being active and compassionate towards others. The confidence she has shown while describing the life events, shows how easily she accepted the situations and took a stand to change the scenario all by herself.
