After a certain age, some individuals feel they don’t want to live any longer, while others feel they want to take advantage of their senior years. This is due to their advanced age; beyond a certain age, a person begins to feel lonely and dependent on their family.
When a person reaches their eighties, they want love, care, and family. And it comes naturally. They begin acting childishly, and their mood keeps shifting for no apparent reason. All they want is care and attention.
About Her
This is the story of an old age lady named Kashiben Dantani living in the Gujarati village named Saido. She is around 80 years old and is living in a small hut and around her house there are a lot of natural scenarios. Animals and birds keep chirping all the time. The hut is located a few steps above the ground.
Large bamboo sticks and shattered bits of the tin shed are the major building materials. That house was enough for her to stay in and she had made all the arrangements as per her requirement. And things that she couldn’t afford she uses alternatives for that.
She was very particular with herself and everything around her. At this age, she dresses up properly and when it comes to the house she keeps it neat and clean and she even maintains it well.
Family and Marriage Life
Since Kashiben had been living in poverty since she was a youngster, her lifestyle was modest. Her father couldn’t afford for her to go to school, so she didn’t. In her life, she had even skipped meals. She married young, and because her spouse used to look after her, her marriage worked out well. She got married and settled in Navsari. She had access to nutritious meals twice daily. When he was alive, her spouse granted all of her requests.
Unfortunately, he passed away when he was 40 years old. They had 6 daughters but only two of them are alive and the rest all passed away due to some unknown disease. One of her daughters is having a happy life and she often visits her. Another one is a widow and sometimes back she escaped without telling anyone.
She even has a son but he could not help as he is struggling in his life and looking after his family. Although after working hard when we cannot provide the help we feel sad when we get such an understanding family who agrees to the facts and give up on their choices and try to balance the situation we feel relief. Although Kashiben still managed to educate her children up to 6th standard.
A day in her life
Kashiben, due to her age is not able to work and she has no source of income. If some neighbours provide her with any food she eats it otherwise she has to sleep empty stomach. Apart from that, the charm of her life faded after she lost her husband and daughters. She is also having certain medical issues and is on medication.
Even for that, she doesn’t get enough money to buy medicine so she skips buying them and take care of her way. Things might get worst for her but she is managing herself. She is unlucky to get proper help from her son too.
Likes and Dislikes
She was fond of playing games and was an active person when she was young. She had a good bunch of friends too. She also had one best friend at that time but unfortunately, she also passed away and today Kashiben only have her memories. She liked her company a lot. Apart from that, her marriage life was the most happening part of her life.
Her husband used to take her to restaurants, and cinemas and gave her a happy and fulfilling life. He was earning well. They have even watched many movies and some actors and actresses were inspiring to her and she even sang their songs.
But along with age things changes and a person prefers a more peaceful and simple lifestyle. In her free time, she often visited her daughter’s house and otherwise, she spent all her time at home only.

After having so many hardships she only wishes to have peace and harmony in life. For her entire life whoever she loved left her and she feels lonely because of losing them. Even at this age she strives for food and doesn’t even get to eat a meal at times. Like even at 80, we still need to work like we are in our 40s.
Well, it’s true that some individuals struggle to find food at such an age. Age and poverty are two things that always have an impact on our lives. With money, a person can look after their basic needs and live a normal life. And Kashiben at this age is holding her willpower to work and earn money as she is old by age, not by mind.
